Rubber-lined pipes are widely used in industries such as mining,power plants,chemical engineering,and petroleum extraction.Typical applications include desulfurization system pipelines,seawater desalination transport,and river dredging for slurry transport.The main lining materials include butyl rubber,natural soft/hard rubber,and wear-resistant,anti-corrosion synthetic rubber.Some products are certified under the GB/T19001-2016 quality management system.By utilizing the flexibility of rubber to“overcome rigidity,”rubber-lined pipes address the need for abrasion resistance in pipeline linings.With excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature durability,the rubber lining provides effective protection for conveying systems.

Advantages of Using Rubber-Lined Pipes

Excellent structure:The reinforced steel pipe framework and the rubber layer are bonded into a single unit with high-performance adhesives.This overcomes the shortcomings of steel pipes(high pressure resistance but poor abrasion resistance),plastics and rubbers(good abrasion resistance but poor pressure resistance),and FRP(fragile and impact-sensitive).Thus,rubber-lined pipes combine the advantages of both steel and abrasion-resistant rubber.

Exceptional impact resistance:Under impact,rubber deforms to absorb the kinetic energy of particles and then rebounds,transferring most of the energy back to the particles.This reduces impact force and greatly extends service life.Depending on working conditions,different steel pipes can be selected to meet pressure requirements.Tested pipes can withstand water pressure up to 6.4 MPa.

Outstanding wear resistance:Rubber lining formulations can be tailored for wear-intensive environments.Its wear resistance is over 20 times greater than steel pipes,over 4 times greater than ceramic pipes,and more than 7 times greater than similar rubber-lined pipes.Service life can reach 15–40 years of continuous operation.

Wide temperature adaptability:Rubber-lined pipes can be used continuously within a range of–40°C to+140°C.The lining remains bonded to the steel framework without separation due to temperature fluctuations.

Excellent corrosion resistance:Rubber linings can be formulated for highly corrosive environments.Rubber-lined steel pipes resist corrosion from acids,alkalis,salts,seawater,and wastewater,making them suitable for harsh chemical environments.

Energy-saving:Manufactured using extrusion processes,the inner wall is smooth,reducing flow resistance and lowering energy consumption.

Convenience in use:Rubber-lined pipes are lightweight,easy to install,maintain,and transport.Since the steel framework only serves as a pressure-bearing structure,its thickness can be minimized.This results in pipes that are 20–30%lighter than conventional steel pipes.The rubber lining is resistant to impact and does not crack.Service life is several times longer than that of steel pipes.Being lighter,they also reduce support costs and operating energy losses,significantly lowering overall costs and saving users substantial funds.

Recyclability:Steel pipes require only a one-time investment.Used steel pipes can be refurbished and re-lined with rubber for reuse.Each relining extends service life by 4–5 times that of a metal pipe,further reducing costs.

Types of Rubber-Lined Pipes

Wear-resistant rubber-lined pipe:Uses elastic rubber as the lining layer,taking advantage of its high elasticity and abrasion resistance to reduce wear from transported media.It is suitable for conveying raw ore,concentrate,tailings slurry in mines,ash transport pipelines in coal-fired power plants,and slurry pipelines in chemical systems.

Corrosion-resistant rubber-lined pipe:Rubber is highly resistant to chemical corrosion.Depending on environmental needs,linings may use natural rubber,neoprene,etc.The lining can be hard,semi-hard,or soft rubber,arranged alternately or in multiple layers.Widely applied in acid,alkali,and salt transport systems.

High-temperature rubber-lined pipe:Uses butyl rubber with excellent heat resistance as the lining material.It can operate continuously in corrosive media and steam environments at up to 140°C.With combined oil resistance and corrosion resistance,it is also suitable for transporting oil-containing media and sewage pipelines.
